You passed N3. Then N2 grammar started playing tricks on you.
かねる and かねない are one character apart and mean opposite things. わけではない and わけにはいかない look like the same phrase with a different ending. You know you have met them before. You just cannot tell, in the three seconds an exam gives you, which one belongs in the gap.
This book is not a list of every N2 pattern
Most N2 grammar books walk through the whole syllabus, one pattern per entry, in the order a syllabus happens to be in. This one does something narrower: it puts the confusable patterns side by side and teaches you to tell them apart.
Each unit takes one pair or one small group, sets them out in facing columns — meaning, connection, and the trap that catches people — and draws the difference. The illustrations are not decoration. They are the picture of what separates the two: one person declining politely, the other predicting something bad.

The list of grammar patterns is based on the JLPT grammar list published by Tanos.co.uk (CC BY). Note that the JLPT has not published its syllabus since the 2010 revision, so the coverage here is a study guide, not the exam’s official scope.

この本は、N2 の文法を端から並べた本ではありません
多くの N2 文法書は、シラバスの順に 1 項目ずつ全部を通します。本書はもっと狭く、 まちがえやすい文型を 2 つずつ並べて、見分けることだけをやります。
1 ユニットで扱うのは 1 ペア（または小さなグループ）。意味・接続・引っかかりどころを左右の 段に並べ、ちがいを絵にします。イラストは飾りではありません。「丁寧に断る人」と 「悪いことを予告する人」——2 つを分けているものが、そのまま絵になっています。
