N1 grammar rarely asks you what a pattern means. It asks you which of three nearly identical ones belongs in the gap. ～たところで and ～としたところで differ by two characters. You have met them both, and in the seconds an exam gives you, you still cannot pick.
The grammar drill collects only the patterns that stop you like that. Every unit is four pages: the illustration and the comparison table, then the same situation said in each of the ways, then six questions, then answers with the correct sentences printed again for reading aloud. For patterns that belong to writing rather than speech, page 2 is an internal memo or a newspaper article instead of a dialogue, with a plain-Japanese rendering underneath. 70 patterns, 21 units, 7 chapters, 119 pages.
